The east coast humpback highway was in full swing The east coast humpback highway was in full swing this week. Don’t think I’ve ever seen so many humpback whales heading south in a single morning at home. They were all jumping for hours and looking like they were having the time of their lives. A favourite frame from our film @the.corners.of.th A favourite frame from our film @the.corners.of.the.earth with @lettymortensen launching in a 6mm wetsuit on one of the colder mornings of our trip to Kamchatka, Russia. I really wanted to capture some surf clips on this trip that were unique and that no one had really seen before. When we arrived at this beach covered in frozen ice chunks we knew it was a rad opportunity to try track with the skidoo and @reddigitalcinema on a gimbal at the same time as the surfers were riding the waves with the ice in the foreground between us. Defiantly some of the harder shots to time and nail but at the end of the session we came away with 3 waves that we were really stoked with that ended up making the Final Cut for the film. Fun fact - after the morning of driving up and down the beach trying to nail these shots the skidoo ended up running out of petrol leaving us stranded and needed a rescue.
